The first piano Koichi Kawai designed in 1927 was a 5’10” grand piano. This designed lasted over 85 years! Kawai’s uncompromising quality is so well known in the industry that in 1992 Steinway & Sons chose Kawai to build their Boston series of pianos. Not Yamaha nor any other brand was able to meet Steinway’s high standards.
